Thursday, last day of work

Our teachers mobility ends today in Agustinos school. It has been a lovely week, with much work to do. And, last day wasn't going to be different. We still had  some apps presentations to do.

Martinique's teacher, Corinne, started the presentations with Quizzlet, and app to create study lessons and learn while playing. It was really fun because we played Quizlet live, a cooperative game between teams.

Then, the Spanish team made their presentations. Rocio and a group of students started presenting Bookcreator, an app to make notebooks and portfolios. Then Javier presented Socrative, an application that teachers of our school use to prepare exams and quick polls in order to keep our students attention in class. Finally, David spoke about iDoceo, the digital teachers notebook most of the teachers of our school use to grade students, control the assistance and many other things.

At about one o'clock we finished working and we said goodbye to our ErasmusPlus friends. Tomorrow we have a day off activity in Tabarca's island for the remaining teachers.

Trip to Valencia

This Wednesday we went to Valencia, the capital city of our "Comunidad". We left Alicante a half-past nine and arrived in Valencia about eleven. From the bus we saw the "Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias" and the "Oceanogràfic"

We started our tour of Valencia in "los Serranos" the old north medieval entrance.
There  we started visiting the old town of Valencia, going around the cathedral and the old quarter. It was really sunny and maybe a little hot.

We also had time to visit the "Mercado Central" and the "Lonja"

For lunch we had a Paella in a nice restaurant in the city centre, and, as we were really comfortable there, we stayed a little too long. So we had to take the bus again  because our farewell dinner was  that nigh, since some of our partners were leaving Alicante on Thursday.

This night we had a nice dinner in the Arabesco, a Moroccan restaurant in Alicante's ensanche. After the dinner we said goodbye to our Irish and Cypriot partners, since they are leaving on Thursday.

Tuesday, working in the school and visiting Elche

The day of today has been really productive for all of us, but also very tiring. We started with the mobilities preparations and decisions (dates, students, tasks, etc.) and continued with the teacher training (first round).

We are learning about tools an apps for education that we are are using in our school and we are going to use in the project. Today's apps were mentimeter, plickers and Genial.ly. We spent some time learning how to use them, because some of them are really new for us.

After a long working morning we went to Elche, or Elx in Valencian language. There we visited the Palmeral, the historical city centre and the Huerto del cura, a private botanic garden.  We have learned some interesting facts about Elche, its two Unesco's world heritages, the history of the city and the famous Iberian figure, la Dama de Elche (lady of Elche).

First day of work!!!

First real day of the international meeting in Alicante. After last night we were really excited to start today our meetings. At approximate 9.15 the bus with  our teachers partners arrived to the school and some members of the ErasmusPlus team  and  the school management  were there to meet them.  At that moment we made the traditional exchange of gifts.

Then, after our secondary headmaster welcome we made a tour through the school facilities. Our guides have been students from Agustinos and we entered in some classes  to chat with the teachers and their pupils there.

We had an "almuerzo" in our ErasmusPlus space , "la Roca", with Spanish teachers, sharing our points of view about education and finally  we really started to work. Each country had prepared presentations about our countries and our cultures and we also started to discuss the terms of the project.

We had lunch in the school cantine and in the afternoon we had a guided walking tour around the city. We went up to the castle, (but not walking, we cheated and took the elevator) and then we went to the port and the beach. We really apreciate Fernando's history lessons about the city.

Tomorrow we will continue working and we will go to Elche!

We start!!!!👍

So, this starts. During this weekend our teacher partners have arrived in Alicante. They are really tired, because they have been  traveling from very long distances, like our French partner, Corinne, who came from Martinique.
Anyway, even with all the jet lag and the travel fatigue we had our welcome dinner for all of them in Socaire, a fine restaurant in the city centre.

From the beginning of the dinner we noticed the good vibes between the teachers, an essential aspect if we want this project to really work.  We still don't know each other very well, but the first impressions were completely positives; and now, we are really excited for this hard-working week to start.

Welcome to Alicante!!!!!

Hi, our transnational meeting is coming. Next week teachers from Cyprus, France, Germany, Ireland and Romania are traveling to Alicante, to our school for setting the basis of our ErasmusPlus project.
Our teachers and students are learning some basic vocabulary in order to welcome them in their own languages. If you also want to learn it  you can play with us!
