A bittersweet Friday 😥

Usually, Fridays are the best days in school, because it is the last of the week and the beginning of the weekend. But for us, today was a sad day, since it was our last day in the school of Le Carbet.

We spent the whole day in the school. There we met all the Erasmus+ students and talked about our experiences in Martinique (the things we enjoyed, the activities, the food…).

Then we did a presentation of the days here. We made a poem against racism and, for closure, we made a T-Shirt workshop where we did T-shirts with the logo “All together united with love”.

It was a bittersweet sensation, because it was a really good day staying with the friends we made, but, on the other hand, it was the last day and we had to say goodbye to them.

Martinique roots

This Thursday we discover a lot about Martinique history!

We started our project’s day going to the ‘Point de vue de l’Anse Marigot’ a famous viewpoint South of  Le Carbet  to observe wild marine animals. It’s also a famous place among French people (they come even from France), specially for lovers, for taking pictures under a giant heart pointing to the sunset.

Our next stop was the open-air village near Les Trois-Ilets. Here we discovered a lot about the daily life of the French slaves of the island.

In the afternoon we visited a craft market and finally we went to the beach, where we played and saw fish, corals and starfishes.

Wednesday is cruise day

 Hi again,

Today we had another field trip here in Martinique. As usual, we had to get up early because we had to cross the whole island to the Atlantic Coast (if you don't know Le Carbet is in the west side of the island).

So we went to the Atlantic side to embark to one of the small isles close to Martinique. It was a beautiful place. There we saw crabs and there was a strange circle similar to a compass.

Later on we visited a local workshop where we made some crafts. They have medical plants too,  and they attend sick people for free. They have only one rule: " if you receive you have to give".

We finished the morning visiting a dance academy, where we had lunch (with some  delicious juice made of an exotic fruit typical from Martinique) and then we learnt to dance traditional dances from the isle.

We were going to visit a Rum factory, but we couldn't finally enter because it was very late, so we rest some time there before returning to Le Carbet.

We hope you enjoy reading our adventures, there will be more tomorrow

And on the second day we had a bath!!!

Second day in the paradise!!!

Today we didn't go to the school because we had a trip.

We got up early because we had to take a bus to the beach. There we had the chance to embark in a  Yole, a traditional Martinica boat, which is an UNESCO's World Heritage.  It was very funny  and we laughed a lot. The objective was to maintain balance in it, not as easy as it seems. We fell  of the Yole several times and we had to be towed.

Later that day we visited the house of Aimé Césaire, a poet and politician born in Martinique and a reference of the fight against racism.

There we visited the house and wrote a poem with the theme 'Together'

It was a great day!!!

First day in Martinique!!

We finally start the mobility. After a long journey we are all set to begin the work!

Today is the first day we went to the school, which is in Le Carbet. The job to do, after the wellcome was a presentation of our country's culture.  When we finished we had lunch. We were offered some typical food from Martinique. It was exciting to taste new flavors of the Caribbean food, and, of course, it was delicious.

In the afternoon we made an excursion into the island. We did some trekking between the mountains and the river, and we had to cross the river! On foot!  It was a very difficult way, but funny at the same time.

At the end we had some free time and some of the French students played some French music and asked as to put on some songs from our countries.

It was a very exciting day!
